Wesley's Birthstory

I was scheduled to be induced 4/12/11 @ 8:30 AM and since this is baby #4 for me everyone expected it to be a quick and easy delivery. I wish I could say that was the case but it wasn't. In fact it was my most difficult labor. I had a lot of blood pressure issues it kept dropping to 60/30 and they couldn't keep it up. The baby's heart rate kept dropping dangerously low. I had to lay on my left side almost the entire time because it was the only position that didn't disturb the baby's heart rate. Because I wasn't able to be repositioned frequently the baby's head wasn't engaging and labor wasn't progressing. A nurse suggested that I get on my hands and knees and rock back and forth to help the baby engage. I was willing to do whatever it took to get that baby out but I wasn't thrilled about it. My epidural stopped working and the pain was INTENSE. Eventually everything came together and at 7:59PM our little man was born. Turns out that the umbilical cord was in a complete knot, thus the cause of his heart rate problems.

This pregnancy we decided not to find out the sex of the baby, but I was pretty sure I was having a girl. Then I heard the doctor say It's a boy and I was shocked! He weighed 8lbs 7oz. They handed him to me and I kissed him and then I started crying before he did. I felt so overwhelmed with joy. He has been a dream come true. He is so cute and so sweet and snuggly and perfect. I LOVE newborns. I think there is nothing sweeter in life than a newborn!! I cherish the moments I get to just sit and hold him and stare at his sweet little face. It's amazing how you can instantly love someone SO much. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be Wesley's Mom, to love him and teach him and learn from him. Welcome to the world little man. We are so glad you are here!
