All about Luke

Luke is almost 2 years old. I can't believe it. So in honor of his almost birthday I thought he deserved a blog post dedicated to him and his BIG personality. Luke is a handful. He has a temper and is not afraid to express his feelings. When he gets mad, watch out! He is stubborn. He wants what he wants and rarely backs down until he gets it. He is mischievous and loves teasing his sister it brings him great joy. When he is upset he cries so hard he makes himself throw up. He is terrified of all bugs. Even seeing a house fly makes him breakdown and cry in total fear of the harmless thing. When I tell him "No Luke" he always replies "why". He is independent and wants to do things on his own if you try to help to hurry along the process he freaks out. He can make some seriously big messes in no time at all. Some days he can really drive me crazy. But he somehow knows when I've had enough and he will run right up to me and wrap his little arms around me and give me the best hug. Then he will look me right in the eyes and gives me his sweet little squinty-eyed smile. He is so funny and can get the whole family laughing at the silliest things. He is my best helper and completes tasks with great pride and satisfaction. He is one crazy little man, But he is OUR crazy little man. I can't and wouldn't want to imagine life without him.

Art class

I signed the kids up for a craft class at the recreational center. They were so excited to go. They insisted on taking their backpacks and lots of snacks. Luke ate all his snacks on the car ride there. When I parked the car Kate said, "Bye Mom" she was so ready to go off into the big wide world without me. I told her I was going to come with them and she was okay with that.
The planned craft was painting. We paint all the time at home so I was a little unimpressed. The teacher didn't interact with the kids at all, but the kids had fun and I guess that's all that really matters.

While Kate and Luke painted Jason enjoyed a nap in his stroller. I love how his hand is behind his head and his foot is chillin up on the snack shelf. Jason you are too cool!

An accident

I found Kate upstairs covered in marker. I asked her what she was doing and what happened to her body. She promptly replied, "Sorry Mom, it was an accident"

cry baby

Luke was crying and I mean really really crying. Saying ouchie, ouchie, ouchie. I had no idea why because he didn't do anything to hurt himself. I saw no blood or evidence of an injury. The crying continued and was getting louder and more dramatic. Finally Luke pointed to the ouchie responsible for the tears and drama. Can you see it? I barely could. It was a week old scratch. The tiny scab was barely there. He cried as if someone just sliced his leg open with a sword and he was bleeding to death. It was ridiculous and hilarious.

Bandaid applied, problem solved! He was instantly happy, no more tears. Scooby Doo bandaides are a powerful thing.

Back to School

Steve quit his job and is now a full time nursing student. So far so good. Steve is learning basic fundamentals of nursing and it's fun to be able to help him out with his questions. We are so proud of him. He is going to be a great nurse!
