The Beach in February

We love to go to the beach and since it has been slightly warmer weather lately we decided to go. We ended up at Point Dume in Malibu and it was a ton of fun for all.

The water was too cold to really swim in but we couldn't resist running through. Rachel couldn't resist diving in over and over until she turned blue.

The kids had fun just playing in the sand.

Another Day at Disney

Steve had the day off so we got a babysitter for Wes and Rachel and took the 3 older kids to Disneyland. It was so much fun. We got to ride all the big rides together. It was a great day!

Talent Show

Kate performed a dance with her friends in her school talent show. She was so excited about the big performance. She did great!
Jason fell asleep about 10 minutes into the show. When an act was done everyone would clap. It would startle Jason awake and he would vigorously clap for 5 seconds and then immediately fall back to sleep. It was hilarious. Everyone in the front rows couldn't stop watching and laughing. He stole the show.

Rat

There is a rat in our garage that freaked Gina out. I thought little of it until it ate through her sweater and a huge whole through our pvc bucket of flour. Something had to be done. So I went to the dependable dollar store to find their top of the line rat trap.

Apparently you get what you pay for because one came apart right out of the box and the rat defeated the other twice. Peanut butter sprinkled with cocoa crispies made him crazy, I am sure, but he out smarted the trap twice and we resorted to poison from a slightly more reputable source than the dollar store. For now we appear to be rat free, though his remains have not surfaced yet :(

The remains have surfaced! The kids were, of course, super excited.

Our 2014 Theme

We like to pick out a family theme for the year.  Something for us to focus on and work on together.  Our 2014 theme is service.  I am so excited about it! Service is the best.  You help someone out and you always feel better and happier too.  A win, win!  I want my children to have the desire to serve others.  I want my children to constantly seek for opportunities to serve.  I want it to become second nature for them. They are small but the scriptures tell us that by small and simple things, great things are brought to pass.  It is going to be great year!

"Service changes people. It refines, purifies, gives a finer perspective, and brings out the best in each one of us. It gets us looking outward instead of inward. It prompts us to consider others’ needs ahead of our own. Righteous service is the expression of true charity, such as the Savior showed."
